Short Guide

The system unsubscribe page template is overridden by using your own Custom Landing Page TEMPLATE that has three required elements.

  1. The page use property of the template is set to Communication Preferences
  2. The form on your custom page template has a Hidden Email form element
  3. The form on your page template has an Unsubscribe form element

Detailed Guide

The unsubscribe page is an ActiveDEMAND system landing page that cannot be customized ... directly. You can create your own unsubscribe page though! As the unsubscribe page is just a Landing Page Template with a form, you are able to override this page with your own ActiveDEMAND landing page template. It is a great practice to let your subscribers choose the type of content you serve them. For example, with any ActiveDEMAND landing page (even your soon to be custom unsubscribe page) you can:

A custom unsubscribe page is not a published page, it is is a landing page template (Assets->Page Template Library).

If you know how to build a landing page, go to Assets->Page Template Library and create a new Page template.  We recommend using the system template to start.

Once your design is complete, customize the webform where it asks the questions that you want to ask, gives the person the right options (using custom fields etc). There are 2 elements on the form that are required

The first element is the unsubscribe element. Thus must be on the form somewhere. It is checked by default ... you cannot change this.

The second required element this form must have is either a visible email address form element or you a Hidden Email field. Drag either one of these elements onto the form.

Once your Landing Page Template is designed the way you like it, then you can 'go live' with the new landing page template by changing the page use properties to 'Communication Preferences':

Note: You can only have one Landing Page Template that is designated as the Communications Preferences page.
